Biography

École de Pensée was founded in Montreal in early 2014 by Marc-André Garand, William Lessard and Julien Gauthier. Rooted in arts and creation, they started the project with the idea of creating a tasteful functional wardrobe for men that would transcend time and trends. Growing from small collections distributed in a few specialized stores to worldwide selected distribution, École de Pensée is now sold among luxury contemporary designers across Canada, Japan, USA and Europe.

The brand started presenting in major fashion weeks in 2017. The same year, École de Pensée was selected by the British Fashion Council to be part of the Emerging Talents of the FW17 London Fashion Week. Following with Paris and New York fashion weeks, the brand developed strong business relationships, including a partnership with La Maison Simons in Canada and several accounts across Japan. The next seasons, the brand expanded its reach by working with New York and Tokyo based partners, granting international representation within key markets.

Locally, École de Pensée opened its first flagship store on Laurier West Avenue in Montreal during fall 2018, which materializes the brand’s core identity in a sophisticated yet inviting physical space. The apartment-inspired interior features original furniture from Danish designer architects Finn Juhl, Poul Cadovius and Dutch designer Gerrit Thomas Rietveld.

École de Pensée™ was most recently nominated for the Swarovski Award (CAFA) for best emerging talent in 2019.
